Discover The Many Charms Of Prague
Immerse yourself in a world of bygone charm from the EuroHotel Praha Prague. Our comfortable hotel is located just moments from the nearest underground station, providing direct access to the cobblestone streets, peaked rooftops and picturesque vistas of the city centre. Discover Czech history as you explore the fascinating, moss-covered Jewish Cemetery, or stroll through the Old Town Square as you wait for the elaborate astrological clock to chime the hour. The EuroHotel is also convenient to Chodov - the countrys largest shopping centre - which will ensure bargain-hunters will have plenty to keep them occupied. Other popular Prague attractions include:
- Wenzelsplatz: Surrounded by shops, cinemas, office blocks, hotels, restaurants and cafés, the Wenceslas Square is the main centre of modern Prague. Measuring 750 m by 60 m, the square has been the scene of a great deal of Czech history. In November 1989, protests against police brutality were held here and led to the Velvet Revolution, which ended communism in Czechoslovakia. In the middle of the square is a statue of St Wenceslas on a horse, accompanied by sculptures of four Czech patron saints.
- Old Town Square, Municipal House, and town hall clock: Prague's cultural heart since the 10th century and its main market place until the beginning of the 20th century, the spacious Old Town Square has been the scene of great events, both glorious and tragic. There are beautiful pastel-coloured buildings of Romanesque or Gothic origin with fascinating house signs.
- Old Jewish Cemetery: Founded in 1478, this is Europe's oldest surviving Jewish cemetery.
- Charles Bridge: The Charles Bridge is Prague's most recognisable monument. The Lower Town was founded in 1257 on the slopes below the Prague Castle, and is the part of Prague least affected by recent history. Prague Castle is the most visited site in Prague. It is the largest ancient castle in the world.
- National Theatre (Národní divadlo): Funded entirely by private donations, the theatre serves as an important symbol of the Czech cultural revival. Today, the theatre is used for ballet, opera and dramatic performances. It houses Laterna Magica, one of Prague's best-known theatre companies.
