The Falstaff Hotel has been a focus for hospitality in Canterbury for over 600 years. A traditional 15th century coaching inn, the hotel is steeped in history. Over the years the hotel has been extended through conversions on an adjacent Wood Mill and a former pub, The Tap.
Located just a few steps away from the Westgate Towers, the hotel is within easy walking distance of Canterbury City centre and all that it has to offer, including the world-famous Norman Cathedral, (designated a World Heritage site) castle, museums, shops and a choice of over 200 restaurants.
There are forty-six ensuite bedrooms and a beamed lounge which offers guests a place to relax after a busy day's sightseeing. The bar opens out onto a pretty outdoor terrace where guests can enjoy a drink in the summer months. The hotel offers a cooked full English breakfast, but no lunch or dinner service, however, there are numerous excellent restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.
There is a private car park within the grounds which accommodates 35 cars and is free for guests´ use. Alternatively, there is a public car park on North Lane, opposite the hotel, chargeable.
The distance from London is 1 hour using the fast link train service from London St Pancras to Canterbury West station, a few minutesÂ’ walk from the hotel.
Canterbury
Most famous for its Norman Cathedral, the ancient town of Canterbury offers visitors much to see and do. Guided tours and trails around the city explore the history of some of the city's oldest buildings. There are beautiful gardens, riverside walks, art galleries, museums and shops.
The Cathedral, St Augustine´s Abbey and St Martins Church form a World Heritage Site. The Abbey, founded in AD597, marks the rebirth of Christianity in South East England. St Martin's Church is the oldest parish Church in Britain.
Adjacent to the hotel is the Westgate Towers, the old gateway into the City. Take a leisurely stroll beside the River Stour through the beautifully landscaped Westgate Gardens or visit the newly restored Dane John Gardens.
Meander through the City on a scenic boat tour along the River Stour. Canterbury River Tours offer trips seven days a week between March and October from the bridge in St Peter's Street, just a short walk from the hotel.
